Abstract

Tea growing was considered the leading sector of the Georgian economy, where in the 80s of the last century 180-180 thousand households were employed, and the area of tea plantations was 73.0 thousand hectares. Despite numerous programs implemented by the state in this area, over the past 25 years, the area of tea plantations has been intensively reduced and ultimately the field faced complete destruction. The reason for this is, on the one hand, serious mistakes made during the privatization of state property, in particular processing enterprises, and, on the other hand, incorrectly planned state and non-state development programs for the tea industry.
