Critical analysis of Maslow's theory
Abstract
This article offers a critique of Maslow's theory of hierarchy of needs. It focuses on need hierarchies in which diverse points of view may exist. The Maslow pyramid, for example, ignores individual differences to identify the identical structure of needs for everyone. As a result of this circumstance, we can conclude that Maslow's pyramid fails to meet people's genuine needs. Maslow's hypothesis is founded not on the findings of his study into individual needs but primarily based on Adler's, Freud's, and other psychologists' research in psychology. As a result, likely, it doesn't stray from the order of actual individual demands. Maslow's Demands Pyramid is hierarchical. According to Maslow's Needs Pyramid, we can address one layer's needs after meeting the demands of the preceding tier. However, to date, there are no scientific studies that would confirm the validity of this view. This article discusses these aspects of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The ideas presented in this article are based on Abraham Maslow's 1943 paper on the hierarchy of needs. This article aims to identify and analyze the limitations of Maslow's theory.
