Targeted SME support programs in EU countries

Abstract

Supporting the development of small and medium-sized businesses is the most dynamic way to increase the socio-economic well-being of the country and increase its competitiveness in world markets.

Social, economic, legal and political conditions of public welfare are created by promoting small business development.

According to the factors influencing the effective development of the economy, the countries most distinguished are the understanding of state support for small and medium enterprises and the organizational arrangement of incentives.  In this regard, the rich tradition, long experience and diversity of forms are concentrated in the countries of the EU and continental Europe.

Consideration of the best practices of state support countries for small and medium enterprises in Europe is relevant for the growth of the Georgian economy.

The paper discusses the attitudes of the governments of France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom towards small and medium-sized businesses and reflects the experience of state support for enterprises.
