What hinders the development of the microloan market in Georgia?
Abstract
In Georgia, household savings are insignificant, while broad segments of the population are on the verge of poverty. In the context of growing unemployment in the country (workers dismissed from state services, workforce released as a result of enterprise restructuring, restrictions on the business activity of the self-employed poor due to crisis events, etc.) and poverty, it is important to promote the formation and operation of microenterprises.
Both state and non-governmental organizations play a special role in the development of business activity and self-employment of these people, and microfinance is considered an instrument for combating poverty and reducing the level of unemployment.
