Abstract

World practice shows that the development of the state is practically impossible without the development of local self-government. Therefore, it is of great importance to implement locally such socio-economic policies, which should ensure prompt and effective resolution of issues of local importance.

Since 1992, the central government of Georgia has not taken any effective measures to further improve the economic situation of Georgian municipalities. In the future, it will be very important what strategy the central government has in this regard and whether it will contribute to significant decentralization of management. At the same time, it is vitally important and necessary to adopt laws that will significantly ensure the economic development of local governments and increase their competitiveness.
